Kerry Wilson Studio

Experience

Kerry Wilson spent the last two years in New York City working under Carole Feuerman, the only artist to work with outdoor hyperreal figure sculptures. Working under the “Doyenne of Hyperrealism,” Kerry developed quickly into a collaborative member of the studio, whose critical eye and organization contributed to the success of Carole’s work. Wilson’s mastery of finishing, gilding, and airbrushing made her a praised part of the team.

She has also worked for the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, where she refined her knowledge of installations, exhibitions, events, and educational programs. She redefined her own limits on installation and witnessed the exhibits transform into an extension of the artist’s intention. Kerry was honored to be a part of the direct impact Museum events and educational programs had on the public.

Current Practice

Wilson engages in drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, bookmaking, and ceramics, among others, to explore their interconnections and multi-media possibilities. The variety of work she produces makes her familiarity with mediums and tools apparent. Unlike many artists who focus on one medium, Kerry’s body of work is uniquely expansive. Her work reflects her dextrous precision harmonized with organic and heartfelt imagery.

An honors graduate from the University of Florida, with a BFA in Drawing, Wilson continues to research her interests in the fluctuation of memory, relationships to the family, the body, and the environment, as well as the audience’s relationship to tactility. She has shown in numerous Florida galleries, appeared in multiple publications, and received the Best in Show award by Carol McCusker, curator of photography at the Harn Museum of Art.
